Description:
Artwork production followed by Artist Talk
Claire Field is an independent curator, artist and art consultant based in Sydney, Australia. Claire is a key founder of the ongoing participatory and socially engaged feminist art project FavourEconomy. With a multidisciplinary practice spanning collaborative projects, installation, sculpture, printmaking, video and performance, Claire Field’s work is primarily concerned with communication systems, language, technology, semiotics and feminist methodologies. Over the course of the Post Digital Aesthetics symposium Claire Field will produce a three-dimensional scroll, created by physical impressions taken from mobile phone packaging. Think something like constructivism meets fossils from a future archaeological dig resulting in a cityscape language of subliminal liquorice allsorts. Through the exploration of the packaging’s printed shapes and sculptural forms, with colour, this work will investigate the production of a visual language informed by the physical memory and negative space surrounding the mobile phone.
